I enjoyed working on the Web Design assignment. It was really neat to be able to add my own touches and watch it all come together in the end as one cohesive website. What I liked most about it (and wasn't aware of previously) was that web design has a lot of room for individual creativity. It allows the creator to express themselves through writing, graphics, and design. In the future, I will be able to use my skills to better develop a teacher website. Not only will I go into it with the understanding that it is a creative process in general, but I will also be able to go into it knowing what a teacher website should include.

In addition to Web Design, I enjoyed learning more about Diigo. At first, I thought that Diigo was only used as a collaborative way to bookmark websites. Last week however, I learned that it can also be used as a discussion-forum type tool in which the instructor poses a question or prompt and the students can share their answers underneath. It serves as a way to generate new ideas between students as well as spark discussions. This will be great in a future classroom settings in order to see the ideas of students while also allowing them to see their peers' ideas. It can serve equally as well with team members.
It is vital that teachers stay up-to-date on technological advancements as well as continue incorporating them into their classroom. As the world evolves and becomes more technology driven, teachers play a huge role in bringing these advancements to their classrooms for their students to learn about. As people age, it can become increasingly difficult to stay up to date on technology trends, which is why it's important to find ways to stay informed. One good way to do so is through a website called Ed Tech Roundup. It is a blog-like site formed with the goal of helping teachers stay current with (as well as integrate) technology in their classrooms. The site provides the latest educational technology news as well as reviews and lesson plans for teachers.

hi amelia :)
ReplyDeletei like the minimalistic vibe that your website gives off! it definitely makes it easier to navigate and to find exactly what it is that you're looking for. one thing that i would definitely suggest in terms of our design principles falls under contrast. i think that having white text on a near white backdrop such as on the home page can be a bit difficult for some people to read. other than that, i think you followed all other principles well. nice job!
Design wise, the website is as good as it gets for a non-professional weebly account, good job. I can tell you spent a decent amount of time making the site look presentable.
ReplyDeleteHi Amelia! I love how aesthetically pleasing your website is! So modern! It's very minimalistic which is good because it makes things pretty straightforward and easy to manage! Especially since it's a website made for a kindergarten class! The only thing that I would say is to look more into the element of contrast, as you had placed white text on a dominantly white background on your homepage, so it was a bit hard to read at first. Other than that, great job!
